Must Check Before Buying a Touring Helmet
I’m a Rider and I will share a detailed review of my best motorcycle helmets for touring that I often use. Sport-touring helmets are designed to serve as both touring helmets and sport-motorbike helmets. Many helmets are available in the market, in different types, sizes, and colors. It would help if you had that quietest motorcycle helmet that suits your pocket but never compromise on your life because your head is more important than anything else. Make sure your helmet meets the key safety standards like DOT, ECE, and Snell for maximum protection.

OUR Criteria for choosing a perfect sport-touring helmet are based upon
- Style and safety
- Shell material
- Weight
- Visor
- Noise isolation
- Ventilation
- Interior and Comfort
- Features
- Value for money
What certification should a helmet have to ensure it provides the necessary safety for motorcycle touring?
When it comes to safety, you should never wear an uncertified helmet since, as I say, your brain is the body’s computer, and the primary function of the helmet is to save your head from severe damage. For this reason, we always choose to be ECE, Snell, or, at the very least, DOT-certified.
Shell sizes and material:
As everybody knows, helmets come in a vast variety of shell shapes and are available in different sizes, but could you tell me which one is the quietest touring helmet? So when you are going to buy a new adventure helmet. It should be lightweight, More durable, stronger, and sleeker. The materials used in the construction of these helmets are just as important as the certification standards. Understanding how DOT, ECE, and Snell certifications impact the materials can help ensure you’re making a well-informed decision.
What is the ideal weight range for a sport-touring motorcycle helmet?
The helmet’s weight plays a significant role, a sport-touring motorcycle helmet should weigh 1300 grams to 1700 grams.
Why is noise isolation an important factor when choosing a touring helmet?
When cruising on highways, the number one most irritating problem riders face is unnecessary noise at higher speeds. Some well-known helmets fail to manage this problem.
What feature of a touring helmet allows riders to easily wash the inner padding and install communication systems?
When it comes to interior padding, many brands now provide helmets with removable padding, which is a huge plus. You can easily wash the inner paddings, and another advantage is that you can install Bluetooth or intercom systems, and they’ll stay neatly covered under the padding.
Aerodynamic:
Helmets are usually streamlined to cut down the wind noise and drag force. If the helmet’s shape isn’t right, it can be tough to keep your head steady, and you’ll find yourself constantly readjusting.
Ventilation:
Ventilation is key to keeping your head cool and comfortable while riding, some adventure or cruiser touring helmets have been expertly engineered with fantastic ventilation systems that strike the perfect balance, effectively addressing this issue.
Features:
What are the features that a best cruiser motorcycle helmet must have? I always check these feature
- Communication systems
- Wind-tunnel tested
- Speaker pockets
- Glasses friendly
- Finish
- Inner-liner options

This Scorpion carbon fiber helmet is one of my top picks. With its sleek design and certified safety features, it’s a winner. Plus, it is loaded with perks like a built-in sun visor, custom fit system, and cool ventilation to keep you comfy on the road.

Ventilation:
When it comes to ventilation, it is fantastic! The helmet’s aerodynamics have been fine-tuned making it sleek and well-balanced, giving you a smoother, quieter, and more stable ride. Plus, its ventilation system uses channels to speed up airflow, adjustable air intakes, and an exhaust system with a spoiler. One thing I noticed on hot days is that when I stuck on signals the temperature inside goes up, I think it’s because of its black color but when I start moving and open all the vents, it cools down nicely and becomes comfortable again.
Visor:
A great looking helmet with a fantastic quality visor, that operates smoothly and gives you protection against sun rays

Shoei Neotec II is a modular helmet, its aerodynamic shape and ventilation system make it a perfect motorbike helmet for touring and adventure plus its intercom-ready design enables you to stay connected with your companion.
In 2020, my partner and I decided to dive into adventures together. Since my partner was new to riding and touring, I chose the Shoei Neotec II helmet. Its comfort and intercom-ready setup kept us connected during our rides, ensuring she stayed engaged and entertained throughout our journeys.
I tried many helmets before but now is the time I wanted the best Bluetooth dual sport helmet for adventure. At first, I thought this helmet was too expensive because similar helmets are available at lower prices. But then my wife suggested we give it a try. She said maybe we’ll have a good experience with it, especially since riders usually prefer branded helmets.
Style and safety:
Let’s talk about the style. It is a flip-up modular helmet in matte blue color and the finish was awesome yes it is DOT certified.
Shell material:
According to SHOEI, their helmets are made of hand-laid interwoven layers of fiberglass, organic fibers, and resin.
Weight:
The actual weight of the helmet is 1700 grams. But I must say that it does not feel heavy while riding of course it’s a quite comfortable helmet for touring long time or off-roading.
Ventilation:
The helmet’s ventilation is impressive, especially the inlet vents, when riding on the highway at high speeds, you need ample ventilation, and the chin vents deliver exactly that. Another thing I appreciate is that the shutters are large enough to be easily operated even while wearing gloves. it has great ventilation you’ve got a two-slide option on the top which is easy to use you can do that with a gloved hand that’s no problem same with the front vent that pops down pops up and again if you’ve got gloved hands easy to do.
Visor:
It also boasts a drop-down visor, rated EN 1836 like sunglasses, blocking 99% of UV rays. The lever on the side operates smoothly, even with gloves. However, I’d appreciate it a little more…
- Pin lock: Yes it comes with two shields and a pin lock (works very nicely)
- Anti-fog coating: It is antifog-coated
- Field of view: It offers a good field of view
- Integrated sun visor: it has a good quality built-in sun visor
- Quality of visor mechanism: I like the quality of both the visors and easy to use

The Interior of the helmet is quite comfortable, and the inner lining is breathable and washable plus SHOEI gives you different sizes of padding so you can easily get your fit. This helmet guarantees a perfect fit with its five sizes of cheek pads, ensuring snugness. It also gives you a quick-release system plus a micro ratchet.

ILM 953 Bluetooth Integrated Modular Flip up Full Face Motorcycle Helmet

Are you searching for the best cheap dual sport helmet? Then I have a good one for you. This is the ILM flip-up helmet with integrated Bluetooth, available at a lower price than other branded helmets, and it’s the best-selling dual sport helmet. If you can’t afford the branded one, this helmet would be perfect for you. It’s a dual-purpose motorcycle helmet specially designed for group riding, with good aerodynamics and a ventilation system, plus an integrated Bluetooth system. I bought two helmets, one for me and the other for my loving partner (my wife). I needed an intercom-ready helmet for both of us. Although I bought the Shoei Neotec II for my wife back in 2020, and it was quite good, she liked it. But my helmet got damaged in a crash. Thank God, my helmet saved me; it was a horrible accident. Now, I wanted a lightweight adventure helmet, but my budget was low so my wife convinced me to try this one. I’m sharing my detailed review here:
Style and safety:
The style of this helmet is Modular and DOT-certified with an integrated Bluetooth system
Shell material:
The shell material is ABS and the inner EPS is mostly used absorbent material and nearly all helmets’ absorbent material is EPS.
Weight:
The helmet weighs 1800 grams, which, in my opinion, is a bit on the heavier side but not to the extent that it becomes uncomfortable or bothersome to wear. The weight may be due to its Bluetooth feature.
Ventilation:
The ventilation in the helmet is quite good. Like other high-end helmets, it features both inlet and outlet vents that provide effective airflow. I did notice some noise at high speeds, but it isn’t overly distracting. After all, if you’re riding a two-wheeler, a little noise is to be expected, and it’s manageable.
Visor:
It has a clear outer visor which is of good quality plus I ordered a tinted outer visor extra
- Pin-lock: Yes it comes with 1 shield, a pin lock.
- Anti-fog coating: The outer visor is not anti-fog-coated.
- Field of view: It offers a good field of view.
- Integrated sun visor: The built-in sun visor works great.
- Transition visor: 3 different visors are available for the same model.
- Quality: Both visors come up and down nicely
Interior and Comfort:
The interior of the helmet is average; it’s neither exceptional nor poor. I believe it could be improved further, but it’s still a viable option. Not everyone can afford expensive brands, so this budget-friendly choice is quite appealing. If you find that it’s losing its fit over time, simply replace the inner padding, and you’re good to go. Also, you can get an extra cheek pad if you want snugness.
Features:
The helmet is available on Amazon for a reasonable price. Its safety, weight, and ventilation are comparable to those of more expensive options.
- One-touch control for making phone calls, answering and rejecting calls
- Intercom communication.
- FM radio, GPS navigation audio.
- Equipped with built-in speakers and noise-canceling microphones.
- This Bluetooth modular helmet allows bikers to handle calls, listen to music, or use voice commands while touring.
Value for money:
The quality of the shell and Bluetooth attracts the rider the most. This is available on Amazon at an affordable price, newbies can go with this Bluetooth helmet for touring.
- Integrated Bluetooth 3.0
- Sunshield
- Modular helmet
- Noise suppression
- DSP tech

FreedConn BM12 Full Face Dual Visor Helmet

It’s not too pricey like top brands but offers comparable comfort and options, making it a popular choice, especially with its range of colors.
Style and safety: This is a full-face helmet with Bluetooth, it is certified by both DOT and ECE.
Shell:
Shell of this helmet is made up of ABS material. Available in 5 different sizes and extra optional paddings. When I ordered this one I was not sure about the size and fit, when I received it and tried it for the first time it was too loose for me. Then I contacted the seller and they sent me suitable padding for fitting plus guided me to change the padding. The service of this seller was awesome.
Weight:
The weight of the helmet is not too much, the exact is 3.9 pounds.
Ventilation:
The helmet’s ventilation isn’t the best; it tends to fog up. However, I’ve found that opening the outer shield provides sufficient airflow to alleviate the issue.
Visor:
- Anti-fog coating: The outer visor is normal, anti-fog sheet is available separately
- Field of view: It offers a good field of view
- Integrated sun visor: A built-in sun visor is available and the quality is awesome
- Quality: Easy to use.
Interior and Comfort:
I’m impressed with the quality of this helmet. From the interior and padding to the cheek and chin padding, everything feels top-notch and gets a solid 10/10 from me. Plus, the inner padding is removable and washable, which is convenient. I’ve used this helmet for off-roading and in the mountains also.
Features:
The helmet is available on Amazon. Safety, weight, and ventilation are just like any other expensive helmet; only the issue is with interior padding after using it roughly.
- Communication systems: It has installed Bluetooth and intercom which can easily be connected to at least 5 riders.
- DSP Noise Control
- Listening to Crystal Clear Music & FM Radio
- Talk in a Natural Voice for a Hands-free Call/ Intercom.
The one thing that annoys me about Bluetooth dual-sport motorcycle helmets is that their Bluetooth systems are not universal. The BM12 is also not universal, and can’t pair with other brands of motorcycle Bluetooth headsets, but it is compatible with FreedConn modular Bluetooth motorcycle helmet BM2-S, TCOM-SC, and T-COMVB Bluetooth motorcycle communication system.
Value for money:
I bought this helmet in 2021 and feel that Bluetooth could be better, but overall in the range of 250 dollars, it’s good. This would be the best choice for new riders. When you use something yourself, you can better understand its pros and cons, so it’s better to initially invest less money. Once you gain experience, then you can consider moving to a more expensive brand based on your own experience.
- Integrated Bluetooth 5.0
- One-touch control
- Adjustable padding
- Noise suppression
- Clear sound
- Fogs up
- Battery issues
- Bluetooth only to be connected with the same brand.
